Private Half-Day Tour to the Colonial Village of Lampa in Puno
A vehicle will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Lampa, a picturesque town known as "The Pink City" due to the pink clay-colored walls and tiled roofs of its houses. One of its main highlights is a colonial temple built between 1675 and 1685, featuring marble floors and walls, and a structure of fieldstone, ashlar, and lime. Inside, visitors can admire a plaster sculpture of Saint James the Apostle, a depiction of The Last Supper, and various paintings from the Cusco School. You’ll also visit the Colonial Bridge, built with ashlar stone and offering scenic views of the extinct Coachico volcano and the surrounding landscape. The tour continues to the municipal palace, a two-story building that houses a library with a plaster replica of Michelangelo’s La Pietà, brought from the Vatican. After exploring the church, its catacombs, the library, the bridge, and a chinchilla farm, you’ll return to your hotel.
