Today you will explore the stunning Callejón de Huaylas, a valley between the Blanca and Negra mountain ranges, traversed by the Santa River. You will visit the picturesque towns of Carhuaz, Mancos, and Yungay as you head towards the Blanca mountain range. You will admire the imposing peaks of the Huandoy (6,395 m) and Huascarán (6,768 m) snow-capped mountains, which frame the turquoise Llanganuco lagoons in the Huascarán National Reserve. You will walk through forests of queñual and quishuar near the Orcococha and Chinacocha lagoons (3,850 m), and then ascend to the Portachuelo de Llanganuco (4,768 m), from where you can take in the majestic glacial cirque formed by the Huandoy, Pisco, Chacraraju, Yanapaccha, Chopicallqui, and Huascarán peaks.
